Laverty moves into the top
ten of the championship!
British Superbikes
John Laverty moved inside the top ten of the championship at Silverstone. A great qualifying saw John go all the way to the final qualifying stage ultimately taking 6th and the second row. Race 1 saw John in a long battle with Sylain Guintoli swapping positions all race John finally got the better of Sylain to come home in a very strong 6th place. Race 2 John was confident of increasing his pace to drive further up the field and set about closing the 1.5 second gap to 5th place Tommy Hill. With five laps to go John caught and passed Tommy, determined to pull away John pulled a 0.5 second gap over Tommy in half a lap but disaster struck when John crashed at priory corner. Although the final result was disappointing for Johns, his lap times were fantastic and he's now only 8 points behind 8th place in the overall championship standings.
Tristan Palmer arrived at Silverstone keen to overturn his Croft gremlins, although hampered with a broken knuckle from a training crash on his mountain bike. Battling through the pain Tristan qualified in 18th place. Tristan's luck once again deserted him during race day as he recorded two non finishes
National Superstock 1000
James Hillier returned to action looking to secure his 8th place in overall standings, a 12th place qualifying was followed up by a gritty 11th place finish just holding off Conor Cummins over the line. James will be battling hard at Oulton Park to keep Marshall Neill behind him in the overall standings. James will be joined by team mate Luke Stapleford this coming weekend at the annual Stars at DarleyMoormeeting.
National Superstock 600
Luke Stapleford fresh from his 4 wins from 4 at Mallory Park last weekend, endured a torrid free practice with a high speed crash in the opening lap of the first practice. Working hard to catch up over the weekend, set up decisionswere decided on 10 minutes before the start of the race, and a fantastic ride saw Luke come from 18th place on the grid to take an excellent 7th place. Luke still has a mathematical chance of 4th place in the overall standings. |
