Round 8 Brands Hatch August 07 - 09

A breathtaking finish as Laverty shines through!

British Superbikes

John Laverty continued his current trend of form with 3 fine races at the Brands Hatch Triple Header this weekend. Working hard throughout free practice and qualifying to find a good race set-up, John missed out on the final stages of qualifying finishing 13th. Race 1, after a good start John battled his way past Walker, Da Costa and Harris to finish a impressive 7th. Race 2, a poor start saw John down in 15th for the first few laps before moving through the pack to take 13th, although later on it was discovered that a quickshifter fault had prevented him from repeating Saturdays excellent result. Race 3 and keen to make amends John set his fastest lap time to catch the battle for 5th, firstly passing Rutter then Gowland,Walker, Hill, Morias (on the Factory World Superbike Kawasaki) & Muggeridge. In a nail biting last lap, John went on to take an excellent 5th place, a great result after starting on the 4th row of the grid. A fantastic ride and John will hope to continue the form at Cadwell Park on August bank holiday Monday.

Tristan Palmer endured a frustrating time at Brands Hatch, keen to emulate John’s recent results Tristan as ever gave it 100% and worked hard throughout the weekend but struggled during qualifying to start 22nd. Race 1, a charging Tristan made his way up to 15th pushing hard to catch Steve Brogan on the HM Plant Honda only to miss out by 0.2 seconds across the line, a great ride from 22nd. Race 2 and like John the start didn't go to plan and Tristan battled valiantly throughout the race to come home in 18th. Race 3 Tristan was back to his normal lighting start and fought his way through to come in 16th. With some testing planned before Cadwell Park it’s only a matter of time before we see Tristan battling further up field.

National Superstock 1000

Qualifying in a strong 12th place James Hillier made a great start from the 3rd row, settling into the top ten for the opening laps and working hard to close the gap on the battle for 6th place. James started to drop his lap times and close in on the group before the race was red flagged and brought to an early end coming home in 9th. James now lies in 7th place in the overall standings and leading Kawasaki.

National Superstock 600

On his last lap of qualifying Luke Stapleford managed to seize 4th place and his 2nd front row start of the year. Luke made a good start settling into 5th place before the race was red flagged At the re-start Luke dropped back to 8th place before battling his way through to take a solid 7th place.
