COVENTRY Speedway are celebrating an extension to their main team sponsorship deal with Buildbase.
The club are hugely grateful for the continued support of the builders merchants, who started their backing in 2004 and have been involved in the winning of six major items of team silverware in the last four seasons.
The team will once again be known in 2009 as the Buildbase Bees, and the club are delighted to be able to continue the long-running relationship - during what are undoubtedly difficult times for individuals and companies alike.
John Clarke, Regional Director of Buildbase, said:
"Times are challenging at the moment, and I suppose it would have been easy to react to that by putting our speedway support on hold temporarily. But speedway needs the support if it is going to survive and blossom during tough times, when corporate investors cannot justify continuing massive sponsorship costs.
Especially with (Avtar) Sandhu back in speedway this year, and the continued involvement of Colin (Pratt) and Peter (Oakes), the decision was that much easier to make.
Speedway is a great family sport, where families from opposing teams can stand side by side, and it's a safe environment for the kids.
We at Buildbase see speedway as a great way of involving our customers and their families in exciting sporting entertainment, and giving them a wonderful night to remember through the professionalism and commitment of the riders."
